Tomosynthesis is an examination in which multiple one-millimeter slices are taken from different angles after a brief scan of the breast, which through appropriate processing reconstruct and display the breast in three dimensions (3D) and any potential peculiarities of its composition. Tomosynthesis is distinguished for its high diagnostic accuracy in diagnosing breast diseases compared to traditional mammography, as it has the ability to differentiate normal tissues from the problem, facilitating the detection of even the smallest damage. In this way, the chances of false-negative or positive diagnoses are minimized.
